QUANTITY SURVEYING MANAGER
Job description
- Assist with the overall management of the Quantity Surveying Team, including recruitment of team members, mentoring and training, and performance management.
- Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the project team.
- Undertaking costs analysis for design and project work, including undertaking value engineering where required.
- Undertaking feasibility studies based upon the client requirements.
- Performing risk and value management and cost control for design and project work.
- Advising site quantity survey teams
- Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
- Providing advice on contractual claims.
- Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports including updating project cost plans and cash flow forecasts on a monthly basis.
- Valuing completed work, review contractor payment claims, certify as per actual.
- Review and negotiate change orders with contractors.
- Technically lead our quantity surveying team to report contractor progress on a daily basis.
- Manage team member resourcing for optimal utilization across the team
- Be accountable for the performance of the team and quality outputs.
- Show initiative and provide practical advice to identify solutions to job-specific challenges
Job requirements
- Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction management, Quantity Surveying
- 10 - 15 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Cost manager, Estimator in power & cement or industrial projects. Manager: a minimum of 12 years experience; Team Leader: a minimum of 8 years experience.
- In-depth knowledge of quantity surveying techniques, cost-estimating methodologies, and construction contracts
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to present complex cost-related information to diverse audiences
- Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven track record of successful cost control and cost management in large-scale construction projects
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices
- Previous experience managing tendering or quantity surveying teams.
- Advanced knowledge of construction contracts, tendering processes, bills of quantities.
- Advanced knowledge of software programs for commercial requirements.
- Advanced written and spoken communication skills in English.
